TWEEN sensation Miley Cyrus is growing up fast, as she showed her Adelaide fans at the Entertainment Centre last night.

The 18-year-old was a commanding rock star with undeniable stage presence.

Relying on nothing more than her voice and a powerful band, this was no fairy-tale pantomime.

Cyrus
threw out the hits as fast as the young female audience could handle
them. Party in the USA came on early with shrieking screams from the
sell-out crowd before the former Disney starlet hit memory lane,
referencing some of the female music icons who have influenced her.

A
Joan Jett medley of I Love Rock and Roll, Cherry Bomb and Bad
Reputation had mums and dads singing along while Robot and the rocking
Kicking and Screaming sent glow sticks up in the air.

More covers
ensued including Poison’s Every Rose Has Its Thorn which softened
things up alongside Forgiveness and Love, where Cyrus channeled
Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.

Then it was on to the much-talked about version of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

But
for all the negative publicity from grunge purists here’s a point to
consider - if 100 kids head out and purchase a Nirvana album it’s most
certainly a good thing.

Cyrus delivered a highly polished live performance - a rarity for most musicians, especially one her age.

Spending up some of her hard-earned cash,  Miley Cyrus was spotted shopping on Oxford Street in Sydney, Australia today.

Joined by her mom Tish, the "Can’t Be Tamed” songstress took a liking
to the various boutiques in the Darlinghurst District as shutterbugs
followed closely behind.

And it sounds like Miley is thoroughly enjoying her time in the
Aussie capitol- she tweeted, "Life is SO good. Waking up in Sydney,
getting a mani pedi w/ my bestie & talking on the phone for 1 hour
w/ the sweetest boy in the world =].”

Cyrus added that she loves getting gifts from her loyal following.
"Dancing around my hotel room to ‘Look at me now’ in my new Aussie booty
shorts my fans gave me =] They got the aussie flag on em! SO CUTE!”

Miley Cyrus speaks very fast. Her rapid-fire chatter matches the velocity of her young career thus far.

Liam Hemsworth into the equation and Cyrus is living the entertainment
dream.

She’s worked hard to get where she’s at and now Cyrus is
determined to bring a bit of reality to the pop concert stage. "I love
having dancers on stage,” she
says, "but it’s not about that; it’s a
part of creating the atmosphere. I won’t have the show 100 per cent set
in stone so every night is the same. I want all of us to be challenged
on that stage.”

It’s a big call because the demands of the pop
show require everyone to know what Cyrus is doing at almost every second
so things don’t go wrong. She has
to hit her marks as they say in
showbiz. But she doesn’t seem to care much about what others think
unless they are her fans. She canvasses their opinions about her set
list as the show is unfolding, aware that what may work for South
African audiences may not be in favor with South Australian fans.

"I
am always interested in what people choose, what their favorites are. I
love that idea of audience participation,” she says. "So that helps to
switch it
up every night.” The teen star also trains to make sure she
can keep up with her dancers and the mic, unlike the majority of her
peers who are happy to mime or let their backing vocalists do the heavy
lifting while they are busting the big moves. "That’s the best way for
me to get ready for a tour; I’ll run and sing on the treadmill to build
up being able to dance and sing at the same time and not be out of
breath,” she says. "But no, I do not lip-sync. I’d rather someone said I
sounded like crap.” Cyrus has very strong opinions about the celebrity
culture which catapults people to stardom solely because of fame.

Despite
her star connections, courtesy of father Billy Ray, she didn’t get a
golden ticket to her first role and was rejected for Hannah Montana a
few times because she was too young. "It should be harder to be an
artist. It shouldn’t just be you put a song on YouTube and go out on
tour,” she says.

Miley Cyrus has embarked on the Oz portion of her Gypsy HeartTour, and it looks like she’s having a blast!

The young performer was all smiles as she, her mom and Liam Hemsworth
hung out in Brisbane, Australia. At one point, she borrowed a friend’s
SLR and began snapping away at the photographer swarm!

Miley also took time to pose for a couple of young fans with
unbelievable luck. And despite calling a quick break on Twitter a few
weeks back, she seems to have returned to her happy online antics.

Miley
Cyrus is busy with her world tour, but she is also making time for
interviews. She recently stopped by Australia’s HOT30 Countdown for a
quick interview and she appeared lively!

Miley
kicked off her Australian tour in Brisbane last night, putting on the
usual selection of hits and amazing dances. Miley is due to play in
Melbourne tomorrow night and due to the ash cloud flight cancelations
has been forced to charter an old-fashioned twin-engine propeller
aeroplane in Australia so she could fly under the Chilean volcanic ash
cloud and continue her tour.

The star, her boyfriend Liam
Hemsworth and mother Tish had to catch the white 15-seater from Brisbane
to Melbourne today for a two-hour bumpy journey.

The ash cloud
has caused mayhem with Aussie domestic flights, with scores of scheduled
departures being cancelled leaving thousands of passengers stranded.

Miley
opens her first Australian tour in Brisbane tonight but she found time
for shopping and Australian boyfriend Liam Hemsworth in Sydney’s Oxford
St yesterday.
